GAILLAC vineyards are reputed to be the oldest in France as Gaillac was once part of Narbonnensis, a large Roman province, extending from Lyon in the north to the Pyrenees in the south. Archaeological digs show that vineyards were already thriving in Gaillac by the first century A.D.
Gaillac’s unique micro-climate is the result of the mix of the mild Atlantic Ocean which brings a plentiful water supply and the warmth of the Mediterranean in summer and early autumn with temperatures often reaching 40 degrees C.
While the bulk of production is of dry white wines and fruity reds, the great strength of Gaillac is in its sweet white or Gaillac Blanc Doux – featuring a style less heavy and sugary than equivalents in Monbazillac or Sauternes.
Another development is the Blanc Sec Perle, a dry white which has a very faint hint of prickle on the tongue by allowing the wine to undergo a second fermentation during the course of which it is
bottled.

DOMAINE ARDURELS is situated at the village of Lagrave on the left bank of the river Tarn just a few kilometres from Gaillac town.
The Cabal family have been making wine at Ardurels since 1811 where the present day Vigneron, Sebastien Cabal, has some 14 hectares under vine.
At Ardurels, Sebastien produces the entire range of diverse Gaillac wines including fruity reds, more robust oak-raised reds, the Blanc Sec Perle and the Gaillac Blanc Doux where the grapes are
handpicked in a late harvest.
*Grape varieties for reds (9ha) – Syrah, Merlot, Braucol, Duras.
*Grape varieties for whites (4ha) – Muscadelle, Sauvignon, Loin de l’oeil, Mauzac.
The approach to winemaking at Ardurels focuses on quality and on generations of ancestral know-how to ensure that the consumer will always find a diverse range of wines for every occasion.
